Solomon Demeke of Jimma University will be this year’s honorary doctorate recipient at the Faculty of Agriculture Convocation.
Solomon is well known to many on our campus because of his leadership as JUCAVM Project Director on the PHMIL (Postharvest Management to Improve Livlihoods) project. In that role he has hosted many of the visiting Canadian experts and student interns when they were at Jimma University College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine to provide Short Term Trainings. Professor Solomon is a well respected poultry scientist both at Jimma University as well as throughout the Horn of Africa. His research on, and dissemination of, the chick brooder box technology has been very applicable to rural Ethiopia.
We are delighted that Professor Solomon has agreed to give a Campus Seminar as part of his time with us. Please mark the date on your calendar and plan to attend the Seminar and Campus Reception to follow. For more information: nancy.pitts@dal.ca
