Welcome Dr. Yunfei Jing as Assistant Professor in Agronomy who joined the department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences on January 4th, 2022.
Dr. Jing's research program will be focused on improving field crop production for Atlantic Canada.
She completed her PhD degree in Plant Science from University of Saskatchewan in 2017, where she investigated the impact of high temperature stress on pollen and seed development in field pea. She finished her MSc degree from Â鶹´«Ã½ Faculty of Agriculture in 2013, where she studied nutrient management on plant growth, seed yield and seed quality in the oilseed crop - camelina. She is from China, where she completed her BSc degree from Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in 2010.
She worked as a research associate working on meiosis and microspore embryogenesis in wheat at National Research Council Canada from 2019 to 2021. Before that, she was awarded the NSERC postdoctoral fellowship, working on the effects of nitrate on symbiotic nitrogen fixation in common bean at University of Guelph from 2017 to 2018.
Overall, her research experience involves in environmental and management factors in oilseeds, pulse crops, and cereal crops.
