Intimate Space as a Transdisciplinary Field-Dr. Francisco Cruces

This talk explores some nuances of “intimacy” as a concept in the social sciences. The emergence of intimate space as a field of studies has brought together in the last decades the interest of psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, historians, geographers, urbanists, philosophers, linguists - and even novelists, musicians, biologists and designers - around a sphere as socially important as evasive to grasp. Relying on ethnographic work, I will outline the contours of this convergence by focusing on relationships, moral economies, materiality, and the poetics of everyday life.
