Dr. Claudio Aporta, director of the Marine Affairs Program, has received funding from the Canadian Foundation of Innovation (CFI)’s John R. Evans Fund (JELF) to create a research centre, called Spatial Atlases for Innovation and Learning (SAIL), to study the Canadian North. Beyond mapping marine and coastal spaces, Aporta’s SAIL explores cultural geography and imaginable solutions to marine and coastal matters we face today.
