• On World Oceans Day, meet this year's winner of the Rob Stewart Award in Marine Conservation
  Valentina Ceballos, an honours student majoring in Marine Biology, has received the award in honour of the legacy of Rob Stewart, a Canadian photographer, filmmaker and conservationist best known for his documentary films Sharkwater and Sharkwater Extinction.

  Today marks two years since the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash that tragically took the lives of Angela Rehhorn and Danielle Moore, both 24-year old graduates of Dal’s marine biology program. Now, as a way to honour their daughter’s legacy, Rehhorn's parents are offering support for student mental health services at Dal.

  Chongyin Yang and Michael Metzger will both work very closely with Jeff Dahn, who is currently the NSERC/Tesla Canada Inc. Industrial Research Chair and Canada Research Chair in Materials for Advanced Batteries.
  
• Regally recognized: Dal faculty named to the Order of Canada
  Drs. Jeff Dahn and Kenneth Wilson are two of 114 new appointments to the Order of Canada announced by her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada.
  
• New research shows even small ships pose deadly threat to North American right whales
  Dal researchers have developed a new model that shows small vessels can cause lethal injuries in North Atlantic right whales, while large ships can kill even at slow speeds.
