In order to prevent spamming organizations from "harvesting" Â鶹´«Ã½ email addresses, University Computing and Information Services (UCIS) has placed an additional security level on the university LDAP directory. This will require anyone using the directory off-campus to login as a Â鶹´«Ã½ user.
This change will be invisible to anyone logging on from the Â鶹´«Ã½ campus, but may affect those trying to send email from home, unless they are using MY.DAL (my.dal.ca) to access their email.
Effective Thursday, June 16, 2005, any Â鶹´«Ã½ members trying to use an email program (Eudora, Outlook, Thunderbird) to access the staff directory by email from home, will have to make small setting changes to their email program.
