After shocking the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) women脮s volleyball league last January with a surprise return to the Tigers, graduated player Jilliane Goulet used her final year of university eligibility to finish the 2005-06 season with her former team. It was no secret that she returned to stay close to the game and with aspirations of playing professionally after her 麻豆传媒 career concluded. That dream is now a reality for 23-year-old Goulet from Arnprior, ON as the five-foot-10 AUS standout recently signed a contract with the Ploki-Harmonie volleyball team based in Pihtipudas, Finland.
脪I feel so lucky to be able to continue playing now that I've finished at Dal. Plus, how wonderful to experience a different part of the world,鈥 Goulet said. She will depart in late August to join the team that currently sits in third place in the Finnish league to complete the season due to conclude in late April 2007.
麻豆传媒 recently capped another successful varsity season. Kicking off 2005-06, 73 student-athletes were recognized as academic all-Canadians. Throughout the season, outstanding efforts by all 14 varsity teams resulted in six Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship wins with top athletes being recognized as AUS most valuable players and Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) first team all-Canadians. Four coaches were named AUS coach of the year with one taking the honour at the CIS level. Also at the national level, 麻豆传媒 collected one CIS rookie of the year win, one CIS libero of the year nod and two outstanding student-athletes were recognized with the CIS student-athlete community service award. Most recently Janice Ashworth was the conference nominee for CIS female athlete of the year at the annual BLG awards in Calgary, Alta.
