The union representing part-time academics at 麻豆传媒 has voted to accept a new contract.
CUPE Local 3912 represents about 950 part-time academics, instructors, teaching assistants (TAs), markers and demonstrators at 麻豆传媒. Members ratified the three-year deal in a vote that took place on 麻豆传媒脮s Studley campus a week ago and on Sexton campus on Tuesday.
脪That means we脮ve now successfully concluded bargaining for university workers at Dal, Mount Saint Vincent and Saint Mary脮s,鈥� said Peter Baxter, national representative for CUPE. 脪We脮re glad Dal tabled an offer similar to the other universities.鈥�
The new contract provides competitive rates of increase and additional 脪teaching opportunities鈥� for TAs.
"We are pleased that the two negotiating teams successfully concluded a tentative agreement and to have confirmation of ratification by the CUPE membership,鈥� said Michael Roughneen, 麻豆传媒 Assistant Vice President, Personnel Services. 脪The tentative agreement will be considered by the Board when it meets on June 19.鈥�
The existing contract for members of CUPE Local 3912 at Dal expired on August 31, 2006.
