鈥淜nowing what awards are available and how to access them is the first step鈥 says Kate Somers, Dal鈥檚 assistant registrar, awards. 鈥溌槎勾 has a comprehensive awards program that can help students fund their education. We also have staff members dedicated to helping them navigate post-secondary funding and access award opportunities鈥.
From bursaries to scholarships and financial aid advising here are some resources every 麻豆传媒 student should know about. 听
1. Bursaries
Three times a year 麻豆传媒 runs an undergraduate bursary program for students who鈥檝e already accessed government funding opportunities. A minimum of six credit hours in the current term is needed to apply. Bursaries range in value and can be applied for through DalOnline. Applications are available from at three times of the year: September 15 to October 15, January 15 to February 15 and May 15 to June 15. International students can apply for a bursary beginning in their second year. 听
2. Government Student Loans
Government funding is available at both the federal and provincial level. Not only are government student loans interest free while you鈥檙e a full time student, you鈥檙e also assessed for grants at the same time. Be sure to apply early 鈥 May for the coming September is the ideal timeline 鈥 and read the assessment form carefully. 3. W. Andrew MacKay Alumni Scholarship
Based on leadership, citizenship, sportsmanship and academic standing the W. Andrew MacKay scholarship is awarded in the fall to a returning full-time undergraduate student. Each department, college or school may nominate a deserving student for consideration. If you think you would be a good candidate inquire within your department, college, school. The scholarship鈥檚 value varies annually between $2,000 and $3,000.
4. Tom Parker Award
Part-time students can access the Tom Parker award through the College of Continuing Education. This award is administered on a rolling deadline and varies in value. To pick up an application or learn more contact the .
5. In-course scholarships
Need extra motivation to do your best in class? Students who鈥檝e completed 30 credit hours over two academic terms in one academic year and who are not already on a renewable entrance scholarship are automatically assessed for in-course scholarships. Assessment takes place twice a year, following the winter and summer semesters, and scholarship recipients receive funding for the next fall. For more information contact Kate Somers at 494-1432.
