Â鶹´«Ã½ has received a formal complaint from a university employee regarding recent activities of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Tigers Men’s Rugby Club. These activities are now being investigated under the university’s .
The club was already under probation for a separate, unrelated incident earlier this month. Because of this, together with the seriousness of the allegations, Â鶹´«Ã½ has suspended the club’s privileges under the , pending the outcome of the investigation.
During the investigation, the club will be unable to represent Â鶹´«Ã½ in the Rugby Nova Scotia university league (divisions 1 and 2). It will not receive university funding, cannot book university space and its members cannot wear university colours/uniforms. (This decision does not affect the Â鶹´«Ã½ Rams Women’s Varsity Rugby Team at the Agricultural Campus.)
Under the university’s Hazing Policy, investigations must be completed within 60 days of their initiation.
Â鶹´«Ã½ is committed to being a safe, respectful place to learn and play. We expect our student-run sport clubs to adhere to their obligations in the Sport Club Handbook, and will not tolerate behaviour that humiliates, disrespects or threatens the safety of individuals in our community.
