麻豆传媒 women鈥檚 basketball head coach Anna Stammberger is pleased to announce the commitment of Ariel Provo to the 2017-18 lineup.

Lake Echo, N.S., native Ariel Provo joins the Tigers after very successful provincial, club and high school basketball careers.

A 5鈥6 point guard, Provo has been a member of Nova Scotia鈥檚 provincial team program since 2012. She played three seasons with the U15 squad leading them to a bronze medal finish at the 2013 national championship. A team captain in 2014, she was named a first team all-star after a stellar performance at the national championship.

A member of 脡cole de Carrefour鈥檚 basketball team for three seasons, she led them to a Metro Championship title in 2015-16. The girls鈥 basketball team MVP each year, she earned the school鈥檚 rookie of the year award at the end of the 2014-15 season and was their female athlete of the year the following year.

Provo plays club ball with the East Preston Pacers, and has led them to multiple provincial championship titles.

鈥淚鈥檓 very excited to have been accepted into the Medical Science program and I am looking forward to being able to continue to play basketball close to home,鈥 says Provo. 鈥淚 hope to be able to improve my game and help contribute to the success of the program.鈥

A two-time High School Citizenship Award recipient, Provo will graduate with an IB Bilingual diploma in June before starting her studies in September.

鈥淎riel is one of the top recruits in the Atlantic region and we are excited to have her join the Tigers,鈥 says Stammberger. 鈥淭he strong combination of her academic excellence, court intelligence, physicality, and the ability to find open teammates make her a natural point guard who will have an immediate impact on our team.鈥

Provo has a strong connection to 麻豆传媒 and is the second generation of her family to attend. Her mother, April (Delorme) Provo, played five seasons (1988-93) with the women鈥檚 volleyball team, while father Dwayne played on the men鈥檚 volleyball team for three seasons (1989-92). Both were AUS all-stars during their time with the Tigers.
