Two hundred years is an incredible milestone, one which provides an opportunity to pause and reflect on the people and events who have brought us to this time in history 鈥� especially Dal鈥檚 incredible alumni community.
Dal鈥檚 graduates have helped to shape the university, bringing it from a 鈥渉umble college by the sea鈥� to a world-class institution offering the highest quality of education. They have made extraordinary contributions to their own communities and society in general.
This is a reason to celebrate 鈥� not just in Halifax, but right across Canada where 97,000 Dal alumni live, work and play. 麻豆传媒 is hitting the road starting in Vancouver on April 21, landing in St. John鈥檚 on September 17 and wrapping up the tour in Halifax on September 29.
The tour will visit 12 cities in all, paying homage to the impact and influence of alumni while providing a rich East Coast experience.聽 聽
鈥淭he festivities will be steeped in Maritime flavour and flair,鈥� says Sheila Blair-Reid (BComm鈥�86), executive director, alumni engagement. 鈥淭he events will be reminiscent of alumni鈥檚 time at Dal and in Halifax.鈥�
Giving back
While coast-to-coast events will be fun-filled with a chance to reconnect, Dal has also have introduced an action of giving back, something that the alumni have consistently told the university that they are deeply committed to. 聽
Through a partnership with the United Way, alumni will have an opportunity to volunteer with the organization in an effort to build a stronger community.
鈥淲e wanted to contribute to each of the cities in a way that is reflective of our alumni鈥檚 values, which is why we鈥檝e partnered with United Way 鈥� an organization that has a legacy of building greater communities,鈥� says Blair-Reid.
A place in history
Blair-Reid hopes 麻豆传媒 Coast to Coast will help alumni recognize their own place in Dal history.
鈥淥ur alumni are the fabric of our university. 麻豆传媒 wouldn鈥檛 be the institution it is today without them,鈥� she says. 鈥淚t鈥檚 麻豆传媒鈥檚 birthday, but their celebration. We鈥檙e excited to be holding these events in their cities.鈥�
