Â鶹´«Ã½ has ranked in the top 300 universities globally and among the top 12 universities in Canada in the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy's (´¡¸é°Â±«).ÌýÌýÌý
Â鶹´«Ã½ was one of more than 2,000 universities considered this year, and its ranking (201-300) places it among the top 15th percentile globally. ARWU publishes its ranking of the top 1,000 institutions each year.
Â鶹´«Ã½'s overall score in the ranking rose year-over-year based on improvements in two indicators tracked: highly cited researchers and per capita performance with respect to the size of an institution.
Other indicators used in the ranking include the number of alumni winning Nobel Prizes and Field Medals, number of staff winning Nobel Prizes and Field Medals, number of articles published in Nature & Science and number of articles indexed in the Science Citation index.
Upward momentum
Â鶹´«Ã½ is joined by the University of Ottawa, Queen's University and Western University as placing top 201-300 globally and 9-12 nationally in this year’s ARWU ranking.
Â鶹´«Ã½ has climbed in ShankhaiRanking’s ARWU rankings since it first joined in 2016. It spent the first three years in the top 400 cohort before then moving into the top 300 in 2019, where it has placed since. Â鶹´«Ã½ ranks among the top 300 universities globally in the three international rankings that it actively participates in: the , the and the .
ShanghaiRanking also releases the Global Rankings of Academic Subjects each year. This year, Â鶹´«Ã½ finished in the top 50 in the world and second in Canada for oceanography, as well as top 100 in atmospheric science.
