Writer and editor Douglas Gibson will deliver the 2012 Flemming Lecture at the University of King鈥檚 College on 20 September, 7.00 PM in Alumni Hall. In his lecture, 鈥淲ith a pinch of genius: A recipe to produce great authors,鈥滸ibson will wonder aloud whether the 鈥榦wn the podium鈥� approach to Canadian athletic events can be used to encourage the production of writers likely to write great books. Gibson will refer to many of the Great Book texts on the King鈥檚 Foundation Year Programme and also look at the context for writers today, including the education system, illiteracy rates, the teaching of reading and writing, government support, publishing and e-publishing.
