WORK ASSIGNMENT: An Instructor is required to assist in the teaching of the Musculoskeletal components (Musculoskeletal PT Practice) of PHYT 5105 (Module 5) in January 2013.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Module 5 is delivered through collaborative team teaching using didactic, self-directed, small group case-oriented problems, and lab sessions. The MSK components in the above modules provide students with an understanding of the core knowledge of the science and tools of orthopedic physiotherapy, including MSK tissue science issues, clinical reasoning, population health, and the development of musculoskeletal examination (subjective, objective), treatment and communication skills.
This portion of Module 5 is designed to provide the students with the skills and knowledge to apply EPA modalities appropriately. A variety of EPAs will be introduced as potential interventions to achieve thermal effects, nerve and muscle stimulation, and/or photochemical effects for therapeutic benefit related to muscle and joint function, pain relief, and tissue repair. The applied physics and physiological effects of each modality will be used, in conjunction with scientific methods and ethical principles, as the basis for developing safe, ethical, evidence-based techniques for utilizing EPAs agents in patient management programs.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Preferred Candidate will have a doctorate degree, and be licensed to practice physiotherapy. Applicants must have a strong grasp of EPA, strong communication skills and have experience teaching graduate students.
