On Thursday April 11, 2013 the Global Health Office hosted a Celebration of Global Health at 麻豆传媒.聽 At this event we applauded the successes in Global Health leadership and achievements at 麻豆传媒 and recognized the first graduates of our new Advocates in Global Health Program.聽 We are thrilled to announce the achievements of the following students:

- Haley Augustine, Medicine
- Roderick Clark, Medicine
- Jocelyn Stairs, Medicine
- Jennie Parker, Medicine
- Carolyn Reardon, Medicine
- Stan Jeram, Medicine

The Advocates in Global Health program is a two-year extracurricular program for students in the Faculties of Medicine, Health Professions, and Dentistry, officially launched in early 2012. The program was developed in response to growing student interest in Global Health, and to fill a gap in global health education at the university. Participants build knowledge and skills in two intersecting areas: Advocacy, which is a recognized competency across the different health professions, and Global Health which is concerned with the bigger picture of health 鈥� the social, political, economic, and environmental factors that influence health and healthy equity 鈥� both locally and internationally.
