Limited Term Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor
Ìý
Â鶹´«Ã½ School of Nursing is seeking an outstanding educator, researcher, and practitioner for one full-time, two-year, limited term position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Appointments will be effective January 1, 2014.Ìý The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Situated in the faculty of Health Professions, the School of Nursing offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with multiple streams; a Master of Nursing in variety of specialties including nurse practitioner; and a PhD (Nursing) focusing on the impact of nursing practices on health outcomes for individuals, families, communities and/or populations

At the time of appointment, the successful candidate will have completed a research-based doctoral degree in a health-related discipline, have a record of external funding and research publications, and have demonstrated a commitment to developing excellence in their teaching, research and practice.Ìý The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a rigorous externally funded research program.Ìý Self-directedness, and the ability to work collaboratively, is essential

The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include teaching and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, maintaining a vibrant program of research and publication, and contributing to academic/collegialÌý life of the School and University and to the broader communityÌýÌýÌý Of particular interest are candidates with expertise in mental health nursing, rural nursing, gerontological nursing or adult acute care nursing together with quantitative research methods and/or distributive teaching/learningÌý methods.ÌýÌý As well, a background in some combination of leadership, ethics, genetics, diversity in healthcare, interprofessional education/collaboration, information technology,Ìý including distance and context-.based learning, and/or clinical simulation would be assetsÌýÌý Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia is a requirement

A complete application is comprised of (1) a cover letter outlining your experience, major contributions to teaching, research and practice, and the contribution you envisage making to the School, the discipline and the profession; (2) a copy of your curriculum vitae; (3) a copy of your teaching evaluations from the past two years; (4) reprints of at least two representative published papers, and (5) names of three referees.
