The federal government dropped more than $11 million on Nova Scotia on Tuesday to push research and development projects and expand the province鈥檚 firefighter school.
Rob Moore, the federal minister in charge of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, announced an Atlantic Innovation Fund investment of more than $33 million 鈥 including $10.4 million in four research and development projects in Nova Scotia 鈥 at a news conference at the Waterfront campus of the Nova Scotia Community College in Dartmouth.

Funding in Nova Scotia was also provided to:
鈥apital district health authority ($2,959,855) to develop 鈥減ush-button MRI diagnostics鈥 to help improve patient outcomes;
鈥BK Biomedical Inc. ($2,140,000) to develop new biomaterials to improve chemotherapy and radiotherapy for patients;
鈥⒙槎勾 ($2,321,299) to develop an acoustic wireless modem to improve performance of underwater sensors and instruments.
