Limited Term Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor

Â鶹´«Ã½ School of Nursing is seeking an outstanding educator, and practitioner for one full-time, three-year, limited term position at the rank of Assistant Professor.Ìý Appointment will be effective July 1, 2015.ÌýÌý The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Situated in the faculty of Health Professions, the School of Nursing offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with multiple streams; a Master of Nursing in variety of specialties including nurse practitioner; and a PhD (Nursing) focusing on the impact of nursing practices on health outcomes for individuals, families, communities and/or populations.

At the time of appointment, the successful candidate will have completed a master’s degree (PhD preferred) and be eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia as a Nurse Practitioner. As well, the candidate will have demonstrated a commitment to providing comprehensive direct patient care using advanced assessment skills, a sound knowledge of clinical therapeutics, participated in program development and evaluation, research and clinical teaching activities promoting professional education and advance knowledge through research and scholarly activities.

The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will include teaching and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students, and contributing to academic/collegial life of the School and University and to the broader community.Ìý Of particular interest are candidates with expertise in primary health care or adult acute care advanced practice nursing. A background in leadership, ethics, genetics, diversity in healthcare, interprofessional education/collaboration or information technology would be beneficial. Experience with simulation in teaching and learning, distributed learning and concept-based teaching would be an asset. A practice/teaching model would be considered for a successful applicant. Ìý
