Guided Self-Change for Substance Abuse Group
听
Do you think you might have a problem with substances (alcohol, tobacco, and any other drugs?) Are you thinking about making some changes in your life, but are not sure where to start or who you can talk to about this?
听
麻豆传媒 Counselling Services is running a free, confidential group for individuals with substance addiction problems. This group is aimed to guide you and help you take responsibility for your own change.听 An initial assessment session is required to provide you with individualized feedback as well determine your eligibility for group.听 This is followed by four weekly sessions which involve group participation and homework.
听
When: Fridays, March 4, 11, 18, and April 1听听 2:30-4:30pm听 (plus a separate individual assessment session).
听
Where: Counselling Services, 2nd floor LeMarchant Place

Self-Care Skills Group (5 weeks)
听
Are you feeling overwhelmed with symptoms of stress, anxiety, and/or depression? Looking for some support to address these struggles in yourself or others?
听
In this five session group, participants will have the opportunity to discuss and explore various self-care, cognitive, and behavioural strategies that have been shown to be beneficial in the management of mood and anxiety.
听
Saturdays from 1:00pm to 2:15pm starting March 5th, 2016

Mindfulness Group

The Mindfulness Group is for students who would like to learn and practice being aware, present, attentive and focused. Mindfulness practice involves paying attention on purpose with compassion, non-judgmentally, fostering kindness and compassion toward self and others. (Jon Kabat-Zinn, 2004) Cultivating Mindfulness by learning how to pay attention to present experiences 鈥渃an directly improve the functioning of the body and brain, subjective mental life with its feelings thoughts, and interpersonal relationships鈥. (Siegal, 2007)

EATING DISORDERS DROP-IN GROUP
听
The Eating Disorders Group is an on-going group which continues until the end of the academic year.
听
The Group is for students who are experiencing difficulties with eating in the form of severe restrictions or anorexia nervosa, binging with or without purging or bulimia, and compulsive overeating.
听
The focus of the group is to provide a safe setting, support self-defined change, and resolve underlying feelings.
听

Living with Loss: A Grief Support Group
听
This group is for 麻豆传媒 and King鈥檚 students who have experienced a significant loss. Most commonly, that would be the death of a loved one but could also include the break-up of a significant relationship or other major loss.
听
The group will involve mainly discussions, with some individual activities. Students can attend as many sessions as they need.
听
The group will meet on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 in Counselling Services, 2nd Floor LeMarchant Place.听听听 听
