Friday, March 11, 7:30pm at Studley Gym
Come out for a fun evening of free soccer, hosted by Â鶹´«Ã½, Development & Peace, and our solidarity visitor from Nigeria, Professor Tor Iorapuu!
Professor Iorapuu teaches social and applied theatre at the University of Jos, and is also the executive director of a Youth Action Centre (YARAC) in Nigeria. Through this Youth Action Centre, he empowers youth to make positive contributions to their communities and to society as a whole.
On Friday, he will run this program for youth in Halifax. Participants will have a chance to hear about Prof Iorapuu’s work in Nigeria, but also participate in this ‘Soccer for Democracy’ game, and learn more about what it means to live in a Democratic Society.
Participants will notice that these principles are the same across the globe – and so they will have a chance to learn not only about their fellow youth in Nigeria, but also about themselves. They will also have a chance to ask Prof Iorapuu about his work after the game.
We hope to see you there!
