Assistant Professor
The Department of English at 鶹ý invites applications for a probationary tenure-track position in Canadian Literature at the rank of Assistant Professor. Research interests in all areas of Canadian Literature will be considered, but the preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate teaching competence across the field. Applicants must have a PhD by the date of appointment and should demonstrate the potential for excellence as a scholar and a teacher. This position is subject to budgetary approval.
Established in 1818, 鶹ý is a leading research-intensive university offering more than 180 degree programs in 11 faculties. It is the largest university in Atlantic Canada and is located in the heart of Halifax, a scenic coastal city and capital of Nova Scotia, which is home to 13 Mi’kmaq First Nations, a deeply rooted historical African Canadian community, and an increasingly diverse population. The Faculty of Arts and Social Science is a dynamic body of students, faculty, and staff arranged into upwards of twenty programs and departments, many offering graduate degrees. The English Department has a thriving graduate program, and the successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate courses and supervise MA and PhD students.
Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2016 and must include the following:
· A letter of application addressed to the Search Committee;
· A CV;
· A writing sample (max 25 pp);
· A teaching dossier addressing teaching effectiveness and teaching;
· Completed Self-Identification Questionnaire (available at ).
