1)听听听听 Lecturer for NURS2720.03 鈥� Health & Healing I: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics (Summer term of the academic year 2016-2017)
Students are introduced to the fundamentals of health and disease patterns, the role of genetics, developmental biology and environment are explored. Cellular mechanisms, inflammatory and infectious responses and cellular biology of cancer are investigated. Diagnosis and therapeutic concepts including preventive therapies and pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions with consideration of age and cultural variations are introduced.
This is a 3 credit hour course. Lectures of three hours are held weekly on Tuesdays, 13:35 鈥� 14:55, from May1, 2017 until July 21, 2017. This contract runs from May 1, 2017 through July 31, 2017. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
2)听听听听 Lecturer for NURS2750.03 鈥� Health & Healing II: Pathophysiology and Therapeutics (Fall term of the academic year 2017-2018)
Students will be introduced into integrating knowledge of disease, diagnosis and person-centred management as a key to successful nursing practice. Specific disease processes related to body systems are described and mechanisms of therapeutic options for management are evaluated. Evidence to support use of pharmacological, non-pharmacological, alternative and complementary treatments is evaluated.
This is a 3 credit hour course consisting of 3 lecture hours per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 鈥� 13:00, from September 1, 2017 until December 5, 2017. This contract runs from September 1, 2017 through to December 23, 2017. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
路听听听Development of teaching and learning activities related to course-specific topics (e.g., pharmacology, pathophysiology)
路听听听听听听 Co-teach course content
路听听听听听听 Assessment and evaluation of student learning
路听听听听听听 Use of Brightspace for course delivery
路听听听听听听 Responding to student queries about coursework in collaboration with the other Co-Course Professor
路听听听听听听 Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services re: Brightspace
路听听听听听听 Participation in course discussions within the program
路听听听听听听 Develop and administer examinations
路听听听听听听 Submission of grades
路听听听听听听 Follow up with students as necessary
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing, or related field, with a strong background in pharmacology including pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and pathophysiology. Prior teaching experience an asset.听 PhD preferred.

Lecturer for NURS5732.03听- Pathophysiology for Advanced Nursing Practice (Sections 01 & 06: Fall term of the academic year 2017-2018)听
This course uses an evidence-based conceptual approach to critically and comprehensively examine pathophysiologic phenomena relevant to advanced nursing practice. The phenomena examined are commonly encountered in acute and long-term illnesses, are alterations in function involving multiple body systems, are seen across the boundaries of age, disease entities, and clinical states, and are those for which nurses have a major role in assessing, monitoring, managing, and evaluating. Seminars are framed to systematically and critically examine the impact of these pathophysiologic phenomena on cell function, host defense responses, maintenance of vital functions, and neuro-endocrine-immune responses in individuals and groups across the lifespan.
This is a 3 credit hour course consisting of 3 lecture hours per week on Thursdays, 14:30 鈥� 17:30, from September 5, 2017 until December 5, 2017. This contract runs from September 1, 2017 through December 23, 2017. The part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Graduate Studies.
