POSITION: Part-Time Academic, BSW Program – Field
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: School of Social Work/Campus
PAY RATE: In accordance with CUPE 3912 Collective Agreement.  (Note: field practicum courses are paid as 0.5-credit course equivalents).

WORK ASSIGNMENT:  The part-time academic will serve as the Faculty Field Advisor for: SLWK 4033.09 Section 04 “Field Practicum & Seminar”. The course will be offered in the Fall/Winter term, from Sept. 2018-April 2019.  Seminars will be held Mondays/17:35-19:25. The part-time academic position is responsible for guiding a series of seminars, liaising with student field placement agencies for a series of meetings, dealing with any issues that arise within the field placement, overseeing the completion of an academic presentation, and conferring on final grades. The part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparations preceding course delivery.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Educational background with extensive experience in social work (or related fields) is required. The successful incumbent is required to have solid knowledge of a variety of social work skills and the ability to impart these skills to students. A Master of Social Work degree (or higher) and previous teaching experience is preferred. New part-time academics must be available for Brightspace training - either in person or online.
