Did you know that 700 Nova Scotia students in grades 7-12 were tested on ocean science in a recent study and the average score was below 50%? [Study by Boris Worm from here at Dal!] This suggests there is a strong need for ocean education. Excitingly, here at SuperNOVA we have been able to secure a 2020 grant for our new programme, Sea to School, bringing Ocean Science to classrooms in NS! The Sea to School program will deliver ocean-based science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming year-round to elementary-aged youth and their teachers, addressing this critical gap in ocean literacy of youth and adults in Nova Scotia.
