Two Year, 80% Limited Term Instructor
The School for Resource and Environmental Studies (SRES) invites applications for a limited term (2 years) 80% FTE appointment at the rank of Instructor commencing July 1, 2020 (negotiable).
SRES provides a dynamic setting for creative, interdisciplinary scholarship that addresses societal challenges related to natural resources, the environment and human development. We have a passion for making the world a much better place through the creation, application and mobilization of knowledges that further social and ecological sustainability. SRES delivers two programs: a thesis-based Master of Environmental Studies (MES) and a course-based Master of Resource and Environmental Management (MREM). SRES faculty also teach in the undergraduate Bachelor of Management and Environment, Sustainability and Society programs, the latter offered through Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s College of Sustainability. Faculty also supervise PhD students through Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Interdisciplinary PhD program.
We are seeking a colleague with interdisciplinary competences related to environmental management. Specific teaching responsibilities include co‑teaching core MGMT 1301/1302 Interdisciplinary Management (previous team teaching would be a considerable asset), as well as teaching the following graduate and undergraduate courses: ENVI 5505 Biophysical Dimensions of Resource and Environmental Management and MGMT 3702 Environment and Resource Problem Solving I – Community as a Living Lab (to teach this course applicants need to be comfortable engaging outside the classroom). The ideal candidate would also have further competencies related to managing human impacts on the natural world, environmental assessment, environmental education, experience coaching students on professional development, and experimental research design, as well as experience related to graduate student supervision and advising.
Applicants must have a PhD, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and enthusiasm to teach in diverse settings (large and small undergraduate classes as well as graduate classes) related to the candidate’s areas of expertise. The ability and willingness to work with colleagues constructively is essential. SRES is part of the Faculty of Management, which has a unique commitment to values-based management and interdisciplinary research and learning. Thus, the successful candidate will have opportunities to work with like-minded colleagues in the Rowe School of Business, School of Public Administration, and School of Information Management.
