The Â鶹´«Ă˝ Libraries’ seed library has launched a new garden kit initiative. The goal of this is to help promote food literacy while also encouraging active bodies, curiosity & wellness amongst our community. Â
To celebrate the start of the 2020 Canadian Environment Week, the Office of Sustainability will be running a social media competition from May 29-June 5 where you can enter to win one of these seed kits, all you need to do is tag us in a picture of how you have been enjoying the outdoors either on Twitter or Facebook and include the hashtag #growgoodthings! We will reach out to the winners with details on delivering your prizes. Â
Each garden kit contains an average of 5 varieties of seed along with tip sheets, growing instructions, and a crop descriptor form if kit recipients want to take part in a national initiative to document the resilient traits of open-pollinated plants. Also included are instructions for saving some of the seeds for next year. Please note there is no expectation for seeds to be returned to Â鶹´«Ă˝â€™s seed library at this time, this is our gift in gratitude for all that our community does to nourish us.
We look forward to seeding your photos!
