Admissions Requirements

Admission Requirements for Master of Science - Occupational Science Program

Admission to the degree program is open to candidates who have completed a four year baccalaureate degree in a field which can be related to the interdisciplinary field of Occupational Science. Candidates must have a GPA = 3.0 or greater; on a 4.3 scale, calculated on the last 20 half credits of the degree and must satisfy the general requirements for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate the most favourable combination of academic excellence, leadership experiences, referee recommendation, and passion for the interdisciplinary field of occupational science.  Priority will be given to full-time thesis students.

Pointers for applying to the MScOS Program

Familiarize yourself with occupational science as a field of study. For example:

  Connect with prospective supervisors

  • Familiarize yourself with the faculty members’ area of research. 
  • Send an introduction email. (Share information about yourself. Describe your scholarly interests. Explain how the faculty member’s area of research aligns well with your own scholarly interests.)
  • Set up a meeting with faculty members so you can learn more about one another and the supervisory relationship. 

Ensure your application is complete. Admissions offers will not be made if applications are incomplete.

SSGS Applicants:

For single courses for courses open for SSGS students - applicants need only provide:

  • FGS application forms; which are available at dalgrad.dal.ca/admissions
  • If applicable, proof of English language competency (International Students)
  • two copies of official transcripts of all university courses
  • identify request for specific courses of interest

Please note that even if a student has completed a course as an SSGS student and is admitted to the MSc in Occupational Science program at a later date, full program fees apply.
