Minimum admission requirements
To be considered for admission to this program, you must meet minimum academic criteria:
- Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
- Achievement of the minimum average for your program of choice.
- Completion of Grade 12 English (or equivalent course).
Admission to many Â鶹´«Ã½ programs is competitive. This means that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Program options
There are many degree options within the program. A BA degree in French with Honours, or with a BA Honours in French and another subject, can lead to a variety of careers. Students considering French as a Minor in a BA, BSc or other degree program are invited to discuss the matter with a departmental advisor. An Honours degree is normally required for access to graduate studies.
Students at all levels of proficiency in French have the opportunity to spend a winter term (or full year) in Dijon, France. Ìý
Students with intermediate or higher-level French skills have the opportunity to study in Agadir, Morocco or participate in an intensive three-week program in the French Territorial Collectivity of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, located just off the coast of Newfoundland.

What you will learn
Courses are available for beginners and for those with a background in French who wish to improve or maintain fluency. Our courses cover all aspects of language learning, linguistics and translation, and provide insight into French and Francophone literature from the Middle Ages to present day, as well as poetry, theatre, contemporary cinema and media culture.

Our faculty is made up of native French speakers from all over the world. As one of the most diverse groups of educators on campus, students learn distinct variations of spoken French and receive a global cultural education.
Careers
As one of Canada’s two official languages, proficiency in French can open the door to a wide array of professions. Internationally, French is an official working language at the United Nations, UNESCO, NATO, the EU and the International Red Cross. 
Future studies could include programs at the graduate level in French, public administration or business administration.
