Additional Information

Professor Janusz Koziński has enjoyed a distinguished academic career in leading
institutions in the USA, Europe, and Canada. He is an internationally-renowned higher
education leader, researcher and entrepreneur, and one of the world’s most widely
acknowledged experts in sustainable energy systems.

He received the Gold Medal in 2022 at the Ontario Professional Engineers Awards Gala and the 2023 Gold Medal awarded by Engineers Canada, the highest honour for an engineer in Canada. He is Professional Engineer and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Educated in Kraków, Poland, he subsequently conducted research at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and spent much of his academic career at McGill University where
he was Associate Vice-Principal for Research & International Relations.

He was Founding Dean of the Lassonde School of Engineering in Toronto and Founding
President of the New Model Institute in the UK.
He completed prestigious Advanced Management & Leadership Programme at Oxford
University and the Executive Education Program, Crisis Leadership in Higher Education, at Harvard University. He is currently Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Lakehead University leading a new trans-disciplinary initiative applying key driving forces in the 21st century science and
engineering to create a novel type of academic programs.

Fueled by an entrepreneurial and inventive spirit, Dr. Koziński founded his own consulting
company and has collaborated with multinational firms around the globe. He has also served on boards of a number of companies, including as chairman.

Janusz went into ‘space’ on a series of zero-gravity parabolic flights organized by the
European Space Agency, swam with great white sharks off the coast of Cape Town, and coproduced a documentary entitled ‘Let Me Do It’ about new trends in engineering
education. He sees the necessity and beauty in bringing people together to not only solve
problems of today and tomorrow, but to inspire each other to improve the social fabric of
our societies.
