This year, we begin with talks organized in collaboration with the MacKay Lecture Series, Faculty of Arts + Social Sciences (October 20), the 鶹ý History Department (November 3), and the 鶹ý School of Planning (Nov 9). Please find details for the latest event just below the 2023/2024 schedule.

Canisia Lubrinis a writer, editor, and teacher, author of three books, including TheDyzgraphxst. Her work has received a 2021 Windham-Campbell Prize, the OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature and the Griffin Poetry Prize, among others. Lubrin has held fellowships at the Banff Centre, Civitella Ranieri, Literature Colloquium, and several universities. She is Assistant Professor and the coordinator of the University of Guelph Creative Writing MFA in the School of English & Theatre Studies, Senior Research Associate at the Centre for the Study of Race, Gender & Class at University of Johannesburg, and poetry editor at M&S. Code Noir (Knopf, 2024) is her fiction debut.

Drawing on a rich history of feminist engagement at 鶹ý and in post-secondary institutions across the Atlantic region, the 鶹ý Feminist Seminar Series brings together faculty and students from across 鶹ý, our colleagues at other institutions in Halifax and elsewhere, and members of the community interested in feminist research and scholarship to present and engage with one another's work in a collegial and supportive environment. This year the Series is organized by Erin Wunker, Catherine Bryan and Asha Jeffers, as well as visiting scholar, LiLi Johnson (Gender + Women's Studies & Asian-American Studies, University of Wisconsin-Maddison).
