The Clairmont Centre for Community Safety Research

The Clairmont Centre for Community Safety Research (the Clairmont Centre) was established in 2023 to replace its predecessor, the Atlantic Institute of Criminology (AIC). Named after the AIC’s long-standing Director, Professor Donald Clairmont, the Clairmont Centre acts as a ‘meeting place’ for diverse research and innovation partnerships that seek to reduce harms and improve community safety in Atlantic Canada.

Centre for Contemporary Writing

The Centre for Contemporary Writing will serve as a hub for practitioner-led contemporary writing and research-creation practices at Â鶹´«Ã½. The mission of the Centre for Contemporary Writing is to amplify, support, and develop the diverse and innovative practices of writing happening in the city of Halifax, the province of Nova Scotia, across Atlantic Canada, and beyond. The Centre seeks to establish Â鶹´«Ã½ as a leader in facilitating active conversation and networking between contemporary writers nationally and internationally.

The Centre for Contemporary Writing will be a practitioner-led centre that is a research hub, a meeting place, and an archive for research-creation practices focused on innovative and interdisciplinary forms of writing. 

Centre for the Study of Security and Development

The Centre for the Study of Security and Development is a collaborative community of scholars and students with shared interests in global security and development, Canadian and comparative foreign and defence policies, and maritime security policy. CFPS supports research, teaching, publishing, public outreach, policy advising and other professional activities in these fields.

Jean Monnet European Union Centre of Excellence

The Jean Monnet European Union Centre of Excellence aims to integrate existing research and teaching activities on the European Union at Â鶹´«Ã½ and to establish a framework through which these and other activities related to the EU can be facilitated and promoted.

MacEachan Institute for Public Policy and Governance

The MacEachen Institute for Public Policy and Governance at Â鶹´«Ã½ is a nationally focused, non-partisan, interdisciplinary institute designed to support the development of progressive public policy and to encourage greater citizen engagement.
