The Department of Community Health and Epidemiology offers a diverse and collaborative learning environment that supports students to personalize their learning experience. The Department of Community Health and Epidemiology is an integral part of the Faculty of Medicine. Our faculty provide learners with opportunities to engage directly with clinical departments, public health professionals, policy makers and community stakeholders. Â鶹´«Ã½ is situated in the heart of Halifax, Nova Scotia, a scenic and welcoming Maritime hub.

Master's in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research

The thesis-based Master's in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research program begins a year of classroom learning to introduce core and specialized materials in epidemiology and biostatistics principals. This is followed by a research-intensive thesis component in which learners prepare a thesis proposal to demonstrate application of their core competencies to real-world problems. The degree culminates with a thesis defense seminar where learners demonstrate their mastery of the subject.Ìý

PhD in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research

Eligible candidates for the PhD in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research must have a thesis-based Masters and demonstrated excellence in core principles of epidemiology and biostatistics. The PhD offers a scholarly path for learners to become independent investigators.Ìý
