As a member of the alumni community, your skills and knowledge are valued. Joining a board or committee at Dal is a meaningful and valuable way to help strengthen your alma mater while collaborating with your peers.

Many ways to get involved

There are several boards and committees across our institution in which Â鶹´«Ã½ alumni and friends can become involved, including faculty-based advisory boards and the Â鶹´«Ã½ Women’s Division. With diverse missions and initiatives, these groups of leaders, innovators, and change-makers contribute to the success of students, alumni and our communities as:

  • Strategic advisors to the Office of Advancement, their faculty, and/or the university community 

  • Champions for enhancing the student experience 

  • Thought leaders and collaborators

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Alumni Association

With roots stretching back as far as 1871, the Â鶹´«Ã½ Alumni Association (DAA) proudly represents our 160,000+ alumni worldwide. The DAA builds relationships and connections between alumni and their alma mater for a stronger Â鶹´«Ã½ as:

  • Strategic advisors for the Office of Advancement 

  • Champions for the institution, our students, and our communities 

  • Dynamic and diverse professionals

Meet the DAA Board

Board of Governors

Â鶹´«Ã½'s Board of Governors (BOG) oversees the conduct, management, administration, and control of the university's property, revenue, business, and affairs. Alumni representatives volunteer on the board alongside the university chancellor, president, chair of senate, and other appointed members to: 

  • Suggest important agenda items
  • Offer expertise
  • Help carry out the business of the board

Women’s Division

Join a team dedicated to supporting female students. The Women’s Division advocates on behalf of Dal’s female students and strives to enhance all student experience by supporting student scholarships, raising funds to upgrade and improve Shirreff Hall, and contributing to other community-related initiatives.
